Business Development and Partnership Office Questions

Q. Does BDPO have any funding available?

A. No. The Office does not have any NASA funding. We are seeking non-NASA funding, via proposals to and partnerships with other government agencies, state and local government agencies and from industry.

Q. I have a great idea. Where do I obtain NASA funding to develop my concept?

A. The NASA Glenn Technology Transfer and Partnership Office can work with you to discover potential funding sources. See our link to "Technology Transfer".

Q: I thought the program offices were supposed to work with outside businesses and partners. How does the New Business and Partnership Office work?

A: NASA programs use NASA supported funding to accomplish NASA missions. Our office will concentrate on business focused, non-NASA funded work, in partnership with North East Ohio partners and beyond.

Q. I understand that you don’t have any funding to support my technical concept. How can I partner with you (and others) to compete for funding?

A. Please contact us, either e-mail or telephone, We have a number of Northeast Ohio, Ohio and national contacts which may help you find support for your technical concept.

Q. I have a great new design for …’collecting sunlight and generating free energy’… Are you interested?

A. Yes, we are interested in exploring new ideas and collaborating with you to support new research concepts. We have a set of GRC Advanced Energy technologies (and Human Health) technologies that may be able to support your work. Please contact us by e-mail or telephone.

Q. I own a small company in Eastern Europe. My wind turbine design is much better than anything in use today. How can we work together?

A. We can work with international organizations, but it requires some special arrangements. Please contact us.

Q. There are many hurdles to working with Glenn. How can your office support the partnership and business development process?

A. Space Act Agreement is the mechanism that we are required to use based on NASA’s enabling legislation. These agreements are very similar to the Cooperative Research and Development Agreements (CRADA’s) offered by other government agencies. We can help you by identifying Center personnel with whom to work; by assisting you in defining your partnership opportunity; obtaining center approvals; and managing the partnerships to a successful conclusion.

Q. Will your office write a proposal for me?

A. No….but our office will coordinate proposal preparation for formal "calls for proposals" from non-NASA organizations.
